The Gares Valley becomes a veritable winter wonderland covered in snow and ice; the ideal climatic conditions of this valley have allowed the creation of an efficient cross-country ski centre, homologated for international races and dedicated to the fellow citizien Franco Manfroi, an Olympic bronze medal.

In the village of Gares the small church dedicated to the "Madonna della Neve", built in the XIV Century, is definitely worth a visit, as well as the Comelle Waterfall and the Biotope of Gares.

An for a complete overview of the village, don't forget to visit the beautiful hamlets of Feder, Fregona and Carfon. Also worth noting is the interesting San Simon Church in Vallada Agordina, which was declared a National Monument in 1894.
