Every village in the Dolomites has at least one church, usually located in a predominante place. The bell towers stands out against the sky, as the surrounding peaks do, according to the Gothic-Alpine architectural style. Often these churches contain works of art, to testify the importance that religion has always had in these valleys.

CHURCH OF OUR IMMACULATE LADY

FALCADE
The church of Our Lady Immaculate was founded on January 20, 1866. There was the need for a new wider church to hold more comfortably the increasing number of devotees. 
Since the beginning of the Eighties various interventions were done to the church. Between 1982 and 1983 the roof was completely reconstructed using a copper cover. In the last years, thanks to offers of pastors, devotees and tourists was bought a new pipe organ.

SAINT SEBASTIANO CHURCH

FALCADE ALTO
The Saint Sebastiano church was consecrated between 1471 and 1478 by the bishop of Belluno Pietro Barozzi. It's especially dedicated to Saint Sebastiano and Saint Fabiano.
Between 1471 and 1488 the construction works were finished. Around 1852, due to the strong interest of the inhabitants, the church was radically restored. On the altar there was a fine golden German workshop Flügelaltar. In 1641 the hinged altar was replaced by a beautiful altarpiece carved and painted provided. This was subsituted again between 1769 and 177 by the current altarpiece by Valentino Rovisi.

SAINT SIMON CHURCH

VALLADA
Timidly hidden among the trees there is the millennial church of Saint Simon, the oldest church in the Biois Valley, recorded for the first time in 1185.
It's historically demonstrated that the Saint Simon church was first built in the valley, and therefore the first meeting place of Christians in this area.
Between 1185 and 1361 its importance grew gradually more and more and became a privileged place by the inhabitants of the Valley to receive indulgences. In 1877 the church was declaired National Monument.

CHURCH OF OUR LADY OF HEALTH

CAVIOLA
The church of Our Lady of Health in Caviola was built between 1713 and 1715. As you can see in the picture it is located in a dominant position. 
The original structure of the tower does not match the current, as in 1834, due to its precarious state was demolished and rebuilt.
Later, in 1929, the church was extended by eight meters to make the aisle more capacious.

CHURCH OF SAINT PELLEGRINO AND HOLY CROSS

SAPPADE
The Sappade church was built in the early years of the 500, dedicated to Saint Pellegrino and the Holy Cross.
Above the main entrance you can see a painting of the Blessed Virgin and Child between the Saints Maria Maddalena and Filomena. This painting is maybe the result of a votive promise and was executed in the year 1840.

CHURCH OF SAINT JOHN BAPTIST

CANALE D'AGORDO
The church of  St. John Baptist in Canale d'Agordo was built approximately between 1185 and 1361. It's the second church built in the Valley.
The first document that report the church is a 1361 parchment, preserved in the parish archives of Cencenighe. 

CHURCH OF SANT'ANTONIO ABBOT

CENCENIGHE AGORDINO
The Church of Sant'Antonio Abate is located at the foot of the "Col de pase", where was built the first ancient building dedicated to the Saint, in the thirteenth century.
Over the centuries this Gothic styled church was subject to several renovations and restorations. The need to create a wider space to accommodate people led to the construction of a new building on the ancient sediments, finished in the first half of the '700.
