Val Mesdì is one of the most popular off-piste itineraries around Monte Sella; it is a deep ravine starting nearby the Rifugio Boè and arriving in Colfosco (Alta Badia). The route offers a spectacular panorama, enclosed by towering walls of the Sella massif. The Val Mesdì is easily reachable thanks to the cable car of Passo Pordoi till Rifugio Maria (2950 m). From here, go down to the Rifugio Forcella Pordoi (2829 m) and continue along the great plateau to the Rifugio Boè, along the northern slopes of the rocky pyramid of Piz Boè (3152 m). In this part, pay attention to the conditions of the snow. Near the Rifugio Boè (closed during the winter season), the Val Mesdì opens in a north easter direction, the imposing Tower Berger, on the left, marks the beginning of the descent itself, while at the bottom of the gorge, you can see the center of Colfosco in Val Badia.
