Passo Giau with its 29 turns is one of the most demanding Dolomite passes through many times to the Giro d'Italia and proposed in the famous Marathon of the Dolomites which is organized every July. Selva di Cadore just pass the square immediately begins the ascent to the Passo Giau. The first very technical and challenging part across a forest of fir trees, here is the hardest segment which reaches nearly 16% slope, climbing you pass several small tunnels and arrive at Rifugio Fedare. Passed the Hut the slopes are milder and wide turns you reach the top of the Passo Giau at 2236m altitude. The view is unique at the north the Averau Group - Nuvolau, south Marmolada, and the view to the Croda da Lago, the Lastoi de Formin and the Dolomites of Cortina.
