Historical itinerary "Col di Lana"

Drive from Pieve di Livinallongo up to the village of Palla and leave the car here in the park. Take the path n. 21 on your left: you will reach Plan de la Lasta- Plan de la Chicia e il “Panettone” Ciadiniei”. You can walk clockwise or viceversa. On the top of Col di Lana there’s a little chapel dedicated to the Fallen of the 1st WW and built in 1935 on the border of the crater created by the Italian bomb; the chapel has been completely rebuilt in 2007. The path, equipped with ropes, go down to the rocky peak where a covered breastwork has been restored, then up to The Dente del Sief and down again in the huge crater originated by the Austrian bomb. From this death abyss rise again to Monte Sief; then down to the Sief col along the ledge dotted with well restored defence lines. If you turn left you will cross the Alpenrose valley, rich of rhododrendons, go past  the Köle Walls and you will reach Plan de la Mina, the Austrian Montucolo “ Rotschanze” – the Italian Montucolo and past the Austrian Village go back to Panettone “Ciadiniei”.
