The Archaeological Museum of Cadore

Cadore

MARC, the Archaeological Museum of Cadore, houses a collection of finds from different parts of Cadore such as Lagole in Calalzo, Domegge and Valle. The well-preserved remains on show are explained in detail and they are the result of the programme of digs carried out from the end of the Second World War onward by the Veneto regional archaeology department. Located in Pieve di Cadore, MARC can be found on the second floor of the Palazzo della Magnifica Comunità di Cadore, in Piazza Tiziano, the main town square. On entering, the eye is immediately drawn to the fascinating display of objects that bear witness to ritual feasts and libations. Then there are the marvellous inscriptions engraved on what were once votive offerings, constituting epigraphic documentation of the Venetic language.

The Archaeological Museum of Cadore can be visited on Saturdays and Sundays between 10:00 and 12:30 and between 15:30 and 18:30. For more information www.museicadoredolomiti.it .
