ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE of MONDEVAL | SELVA DI CADORE | Dolomites UNESCO World Natural Heritage

This excursion takes us to visit the place where he was found the skeleton of the Mondeval Man. From Santa Fosca we are going up to L' Andria / Toffol and continue right towards Malga Pien de Vacia. After the dairy continue again for the paved road up to the locality of Piera de l'Auta, where we find a totem showing the location and nature on the Mondeval plateau. For the path CAI n. 466 to overcome before Malga Mondeval de Sota now abandoned, we pass a small boardwalk over the Rio Mondeval and climb up to the Mondeval plateau surrounded by pastures where on the left there is the boulder where the burial of the Mondeval Man  was found, a hunter lived about 7,500 years ago. The skeleton with the grave goods can be admired at the Museum Vittorino Cazzetta in Selva di Cadore. In addition to the burial site you can also admire the beautiful panorama of the Lastoi del Formin, Croda da Lago and the Bec de Mezodi. Return along the route taken in the first leg.
