The Bivacco degli Alpini (Alpine bivouac) is a World War I barrack on the north-eastern ridge of the Tofana di Mezzo, below the Formenton.
Set among the rocks at 2992 m, the war shelter was originally built by the Italian troops on the front in the early stages of the Great War in the Dolomites. It was inaugurated in 1982 at the behest of the Tofana - Freccia nel Cielo management company and is today an excellent support point for hikers.
