Museum of War "Forte Tre Sassi"

Cortina

The Forte Tre Sassi Museum, at Passo Valparola, is one of the most interesting testimonies of the Great War on the Dolomite front.

Built in 1897 to defend the southern borders of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it was modernised in 1910. A few weeks into the war, the fortress was hit and perforated by bombs fired from the 5 Torri, and was therefore evacuated.

Today, the fortress has been renovated and exhibits the soldiers' equipment and objects of daily use, over 2000 pieces of war material.
