The Great War snowshoe hike

The Cima Gallina hike at sunset is an experience not to be missed.

It is a dazzling one-hour snowshoe or mountaineering ski tour with an elevation gain of 300 metres on the traces of the Great War, leading from the Col Gallina Hut to the Italian artillery stronghold at Cima Gallina.

Along the way, you will see tunnels, emplacements for the Italian artillery that faced the Austrian line on Mt. Lagazuoi, a command barrack, lookout posts, a latrine and a dormitory suspended in the rock, the destination of this excursion.

A mountain guide accompanies you safely to the stronghold, where a re-enactor wearing a faithfully reproduced uniform will welcome you, tell you anecdotes and make you relive the events that occurred on the so-called 'stone front'.

The program also includes a chance to savour the best of the region with a selection of local products. The small dormitory carved out of the small stronghold was faithfully reconstructed and equipped to provide the more adventurous guests with the opportunity to experience a night ‘at the front’.

Thanks to the accompaniment of a mountain guide, the tour is also suitable for children and disabled people.
