Ampezzo evenings

To really get to know a place, one must taste its traditional dishes.

Ampezzo Ladin cuisine is characterised by a few but very tasty dishes such as red casunzie, a kind of ravioli stuffed with red turnip, seasoned with poppy seeds and melted butter.

For those who want to try flavours belonging to the local culture in a truly unique natural setting, the tasting evenings at the Lago d'Ajal refuge are not to be missed. The refuge offers special dinners every Friday evening throughout the month of September.

Each course will be accompanied by wines selected by Alberto Alverà, sommelier and manager of the refuge. To conclude in beauty and joy, a Grolla dell'Amicizia will be offered at the end of the dinner.

The Lago d'Ajal refuge is a little gem on the shores of a high-altitude mountain lake; the dining room does not have much seating. An exclusive location, therefore, where reservations must be made well in advance on +39 376 0474338.

Dinner is a set menu at a cost of 50 euro per person all inclusive: water and wine, starter, main course.

The refuge can be reached on foot from Lake Pianozes (path no. 430 - about 30 minutes) or by a walk of about 45 minutes in a gentle up and downhill walk from malga Peziè de Parù. Alternatively, you can use the jeep service on request by calling (+39) 348 222 1626. A torch is recommended if you want to reach the hut on foot in the evening.
